Project Overview
MyPromoPal is a new startup founded by Lee-Anne Schmitz, a former Marketing Manager for Diageo who identified a gap in the market for a real-world drinks promotion app. The goal was to connect drinks brands, bars, and consumers through a streamlined app experience, allowing users to discover venues and claim free drink promotions easily.
MyPromoPal needed a robust technical solution that included a multi-tenant backend for venue and promotion management, a user-friendly mobile app, and a scalable infrastructure ready for rapid growth.

The Challenge
MyPromoPal needed:
-
A mobile app for users to browse venues, view promotions, and redeem drink offers.
-
A backend admin system for both super admins and individual venue owners.
-
Real-time promotion claiming and fraud prevention.
-
A location-based experience showing users nearby bars and available offers.
-
Scalable infrastructure to handle promotional spikes.
Our Solution
Metadeck delivered:
-
Backend API Development: A scalable, multi-tenant Laravel API allowing superadmins (MyPromoPal team) and venue owners to manage promotions, adverts, and venue profiles.
-
Flutter Mobile App: A fast, cross-platform mobile app that tracks location (with user consent), showcases nearby venues, and enables users to claim promotions.
-
Venue Profile Management: Venues can log in to the backend to update descriptions, images, and opening hours, ensuring fresh and enticing profiles.
-
Promotion Claiming System: Real-time claim tracking, initially using a countdown timer and now evolving to an interactive button-press to prevent fraud.
-
Authentication Flow Innovation: After an App Store review, we re-engineered authentication to allow users to browse freely and only prompt sign-in when necessary (e.g., when claiming or favouriting), improving user engagement.
-
Scalable Serverless Architecture: Built to handle high user traffic during promotional campaigns without performance issues.
